1. Marketing in simple terms.

Marketing is the science of promoting and selling a product or service to the consumers by sending the right message, to the right person, at the right time. Marketing is not just about selling. It is also about keeping an existing customer happy by communicating with them so that they can remain a customer for life.

2. Marketing Fundamentals.

Marketing can be a goal-based approach for a business to reach the consumer by convincing them. Marketing promotion/ads designed for getting the desired results which make consumers take action for buying the product.

Few brands of the food and beverage industry follow this to place their products in front of consumers and examples are ThumsUp "Taste the thunder", Mountain Dew "Dar K Aagey jeet hai", Cadbury Dairymilk "Kuch Mitha Ho Jaye"  and etc.

These companies promote and market their products through advertisements with such a great thrill, adventure, background music, and taglines which makes the consumer take action by convincing them to feel or experience the product by buying their products.

4 Ps Of Marketing,

1. PRODUCT

A product can be defined as a commodity, goods, or service that's useful for a person who wants it. Businesses surveys in the market to know the need of the consumers. With the survey, they find out whether the product is required in the market. Does the consumer need this product? Or is there any shortage of the product. In other words, they check out the demand and supply of the product in the market.

2. PRICE

This is a basic and most important fundamental forming a necessary base or core of the market which gives you the ' Return On Investment ' (ROI). Price includes the cost of production, packaging, packing, and delivering it to dealer/wholesalers/retailers and above all, your own profit margin including GST.
After all these mathematical calculations you will have to arrive at the ' Maximum Retail Price ' (MRP).

3. PLACE

After deciding the product and its price, the stage is for the launch of the product in the right place. You should create a proper placement for your product. It is also called ' Product Positioning' and also 'Product Launch'. You need to show the benefits of the product and also educate consumers about using the product. By doing so you make a place for your product sale and this is going to play a major role in selling a product.

4. PROMOTION

The promotion of the product is all about 'how you are planning to sell your product'. Promotion plays a major role in the sales of the product. Promotion is also about 'Better Marketing' of the product. Generally, all companies depend on advertisements. This advertisement grabs the attention of the consumers. You try to highlight the benefits of the product, its simplicity, and convenience. If the product is good and if the benefits are not well conveyed to the consumers, success is doubtful. Your message should always be direct, powerful, and to the point.

All the above 4 Ps are vital, interlinked, and plays a decisive role in marketing a product.

3. Digital Marketing V/S Traditional Marketing

See before you get to know about the difference between Digital Marketing and Traditional Marketing you can focus on observing the similarity between them.

What is common between Digital Marketing and Traditional Marketing?

The first 3 Ps ( Product, Price & Place ) is common for both types of marketing. The only Promotion of the product in a different medium can be observed.

Marketing the product which is prepared and sold needs a medium of Promotion to showcase and sell. This medium of Promotion through which you market and sell your product is different for the same product. Some products use Digital mediums like social media/websites and some use Traditional methods like TV / Newspaper Ads.

Now let's see the differences in these mediums.

Traditional Marketing ( TV/Newspaper ) V/S Digital Marketing Differences.

Consumer Reach

If you apply Traditional Marketing then the reach of your products will be low because at the current trend only a few audiences view TV / Radio / Newspaper. You get maximum reach to say million and even billion audiences for your products in the digital mediums. Moreover, the cost you pay for the Digital Marketing medium comes less expensive than marketing in any Traditional Marketing medium.

Editable minor details

If you want to make certain changes like your business location change, contact number change, and changes in bills, etc you will be unable to change in the medium of Traditional Marketing methods once it is published. But if you see the same in Digital Marketing methods you will be easily able to edit those details with just a few clicks.

Engaging your audience

Engaging the audience to view about page, usage of Google Maps to locate your business place, and making them subscribe to your products or services comes easily in Digital Marketing methods but in another medium of Traditional Marketing engagement is not possible.

Measure the ROI

If you have opted for Traditional Marketing to market your product then it would cost you a lot and due to not available of any tool to measure ROI your marketing plan doesn't work effectively and is unable to generate more profits. Or in other words, you can say that ROI is not guaranteed. But in Digital Marketing methods the cost paid for marketing your product gives you High Returns of ROI.
